GROWTH OF THE PARISH OF |
|
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do
not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes” Isa 54:2
|
|
Isaiah the prophet in the verse above challenges God’s people to grow in
very difficult circumstances during the Babylonian exile. The command to
enlarge the place of their tent is in the midst of feelings of
abandonment and barrenness (Isa 54:1). In like manner many are facing a
sense of abandonment and barrenness as we suffer the effects of a
worldwide recession. People have lost jobs and their careers. More than
ever we need to reach out to those in need for the Saviour. Thanksgiving
for all our blessings together with a sense of responsibility to
evangelise should fill our hearts as we assemble for the annual general
meeting. The Lord has been kind to us in all our struggles and triumphs.
Let us count our blessings and reflect on the challenge to win and
disciple the loss.

1. Growth of Christ Church & AICF Goals
: The AIPF goals are growth oriented in that they envisage a 10% annual growth (baptisms and conversions) of the various congregations together with the increase of 5-7 church workers. These core goals will drive the other goals of church planting, setting up and Indian Board and a counselling centre. The challenge of bringing people to baptisms and conversions in order to meet the challenge of growing by 10% is vitally important for the overall growth/development of our Parish and hinge on a strategy of raising/ hiring workers who are willing to work at strategic areas which will bring about the realisation of these goals. |
|
2. Growth of Christ Church
: Planning & Programming Stating goals geared to growth needs to accompanied by proper staffing, a dynamic budget, admin support, and a review of the church’s annual program/activities. Everything we do in Christ Church needs to be growth orientated! |
|
3. Growth Opportunities/Planning
: The challenge to couple the current church program with this emphasis on growth will be tested as we begin to plan for the coming Mohan Lazarus/Fr. Berchmans evangelistic rallies at St Andrews Cathedral. Please pray for those whom you wish to invite and be a part of this exciting move of God! |
|
Conclusion: Christ Church is at an exciting moment of her history where we are hearing afresh the need to evangelise, disciple and baptize those who do not know Christ. Let us put our hands to the plough and not look black (Luke 9:62) |
